This morning the family went to Cascade Springs in American Fork Canyon for a little ATV ride. We haven’t been able to ride for three (3) weeks because our trailer needed a new wheel and the season is getting shorter each day.
As we entered into American Fork Canyon this morning the sun was coming up and the trees were so beautiful of every color. It was breathtaking when the sunlight hit the colorful trees and photographers were everywhere.
I started a new diet on Thursday, 48 hours ago, and it’s going very well considering. The diet is called Take Shape for Life and my meal coach is Lynda Anderson.
Anyway, I’ve lost 3 pounds (started at 180 lbs. and 6 ft. 1 in. with a goal to loose 10 lbs. this month) in 48 hours and I’m hoping for 6-8 total pounds for this week. It’s medically proven to help anyone loose 2-5 pounds easily and I’m already in that range. This means that if I lost 12-15 pounds before our cruise I will be ready for all that cruise food.
However, the kind of diet it is makes me hungry these first few days because my stomach is shrinking. My caloric intake has been cut to 1000 calories per day for the first four (4) days. I have no idea how many calories I used to eat everyday, but it must have been 2500 - 2800 per day? I’ve been working out in the gym and gaining 12 pounds of muscle in the last 6 months so I’m unsure.
Anyway, the point of this post is how I realized over the last couple days that I’m addicted to food. I’m addicted to foods that are not good for me like the Big Mac, peanut M & M’s, Oreo’s, Chicken & Cheese quessadilla’s, and carbs in general. I’m addicted to portions that are not healthy for me. I used to feel bloated about 2-3 times a day because I would eat a small breakfast and then I was off and running eating anything that crossed my path. I also used to consume three (3) to five (5) cans of soda pop a day (not to be confused with the bladder buster pop at the gas station).
Overall I’m ready to get over my addiction and learn to eat more healthily. I’m ready to find better portions (and portion control). I’m ready to feel better and look better and burn my belly fat so I can increase my health in general.
I’ve got a new project I’m working on for one of my hobbies: art. At WinMyArt.com you can follow along as I create new pieces and you can enter for a chance to win my art. I’m not exactly sure how this is going to be setup, but I got this idea today and wanted to jump on it.
However, since I’m not planning to sell my art, I’m looking to get my hands on free art supplies to minimize my costs.
I’m an amateur artist, but I’ve felt the need to create for several months now and it’s an itch that just won’t go away.
If you have left over art supplies including paint, brushes, canvas, protectant, boards, or any other supplies that are just laying around, please let me know.
I’ve posted on Craigslist in the Salt Lake City area so I can easily pick up an supplies.
Last night was the beginning of a father sons campout and Dallin and I went camping with several of our friends and neighbors.
Before we left for this campout, which was planned in August, it was a rainy, stressful day, and I was not looking forward to a sleepless night and lots of rain. However, right after we got there the snow started to fall and it was beautiful. The cabins were warm and very comfortable and we were surrounded by great friends.
Being the only child of five (5) to graduate from college, my dad gave me an incentive to finish my last two (2) years by bribing me with a cruise anywhere if I would only complete my courses. Graduation happened in 2004, but we have three (3) children to worry about so we’ve been trying to plan the perfect time to go.
That time has now come and we’ve secured our tickets to cruise to the Western Caribbean and Eastern Mexico. I realized I’m gonna need to upgrade my Flickr account so I can create unlimited sets of photos and upload unlimited photos to bring you all our adventures.
After our Fall Wedding Expos, which will keep me traveling most of September, we’ll be preparing for sand and surf and plenty of sightseeing.
This morning we (John Jonas and myself) woke up early and headed for the mountains. It’s a short 20 drive from the house, but we started out at 8:00 am at about 55 degrees F. Within 10 minutes on the ATV’s we started to realize how cold it really was. Probably not much above freezing in the higher elevations and we had long sleeves/pants but no additional jackets for warmth.
It was a beautiful morning with a few of the trees already changing colors and the sun coming up over the many mountain peaks. I was surprised to see that the trees were already changing since this is only September 2, but at least I know to be back in a couple of weeks before too much more has changed.
I’m still working very hard to find new trails to bring to you, but sometimes it’s easier to go back to somewhere familiar. If you have any trails you’d like me to try and/or blog about, just contact me through my about page and I’ll get right on it.
