New Blog On Wordpress

Posted on April 26th, 2008 in Misc. | No Comments »

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

So I’m now officially all Wordpress. I agonized for months over moving my blog to Wordpress because of the hassle, dead links from others, moving of images, potential loss of information, and so on. You know what? It wasn’t that difficult. A slight modification to my feed and it imported without trouble.

This blog will still focus on the following:

Please update any links you have coming into pages other than my home page.

Tanning to Avoid Sunburn on Vacation

Posted on April 11th, 2007 in Misc. | No Comments »

Tanning seems so silly to me but getting a sunburn on vacation sucks so my wife and I decided to get a little tanning done before our trip south.

My wife tans easily and it takes a lot for her to burn. I, on the other hand, burn easily and need to ease into it slowly with lots of lotion.

So we showed up tonight to get a few minutes of tanning in and there was a line coming out the door. Ridiculous. How many people do you know that have too much tan? I think hey were all here tonight.

Hopefully this will be enough to ward of the sunburn gods so I can enjoy my vacation sunburn-free.

Blogging from My Motorola Q Phone

Posted on April 11th, 2007 in Misc. | 1 Comment »

This is my first post from my Motorola Q PDA phone. I just had a great post ready to go and messed it up.

Last year I tried the Samsung phone and it was glitchy and I had to take it back.

I’ll post again from this phone for sure.

Scratch-Proof Your Gadgets

Posted on April 11th, 2007 in Misc. | No Comments »

Last night I had my new Motorola Q scratch-proofed because once the screen on a PDA is scratched it becomes useless to me. But you can also protect your iPod, Laptop, digital camera, PSP, DS, etc.

I got it through Berto at University Mall in Orem, Utah. He’s in a kiosk outside the Verizon store on the East side of the mall just south of the kid’s tree playhouse.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

This video isn’t great (too long) but it shows how the protective screen works against scratches.

I’m surprised that Laura hasn’t talked about this on her gadget blog.

Spring Weather

Posted on April 3rd, 2007 in Misc. | No Comments »

It’s days like today that make me want to skip work and go outside to play. And by play I mean go four wheeling, of course. ;-) If things continue as is, I just might take myself up on that offer.

I’m Addicted to Food

Posted on September 30th, 2006 in Misc. | No Comments »

Big MacI started a new diet on Thursday, 48 hours ago, and it’s going very well considering. The diet is called Take Shape for Life and my meal coach is Lynda Anderson.

Anyway, I’ve lost 3 pounds (started at 180 lbs. and 6 ft. 1 in. with a goal to loose 10 lbs. this month) in 48 hours and I’m hoping for 6-8 total pounds for this week. It’s medically proven to help anyone loose 2-5 pounds easily and I’m already in that range. This means that if I lost 12-15 pounds before our cruise I will be ready for all that cruise food. ;-)

However, the kind of diet it is makes me hungry these first few days because my stomach is shrinking. My caloric intake has been cut to 1000 calories per day for the first four (4) days. I have no idea how many calories I used to eat everyday, but it must have been 2500 - 2800 per day? I’ve been working out in the gym and gaining 12 pounds of muscle in the last 6 months so I’m unsure.

Anyway, the point of this post is how I realized over the last couple days that I’m addicted to food. I’m addicted to foods that are not good for me like the Big Mac, peanut M & M’s, Oreo’s, Chicken & Cheese quessadilla’s, and carbs in general. I’m addicted to portions that are not healthy for me. I used to feel bloated about 2-3 times a day because I would eat a small breakfast and then I was off and running eating anything that crossed my path. I also used to consume three (3) to five (5) cans of soda pop a day (not to be confused with the bladder buster pop at the gas station).

Overall I’m ready to get over my addiction and learn to eat more healthily. I’m ready to find better portions (and portion control). I’m ready to feel better and look better and burn my belly fat so I can increase my health in general.

My Fitness Report 6

Posted on August 7th, 2006 in Misc. | No Comments »

At my six week checkup today, I met with my trainer to get weighed and measured.

Great news: I’ve lost body fat big time — 5% loss in six (6) weeks. My weight went up a couple pounds and I’m up about 12 pounds total this year. But, my clothes still fit fine and my energy level is way up.

I’m feeling so much stronger than before and with my back herniation late last year this is a good thing.

My chiropractor is encouraging and I think I’ll be better in the future than I’ve been in the past. Getting my spine aligned and increasing my exercise level is making for a huge improvement in my overall quality of life.

I still suck down 3-4 colas everyday and I really enjoy my food. But, I’m going to start eating six (6) smaller meals today and see if that helps with my weight.

My goals are simple:

  1. get strong and healthy
  2. gain endurance in cardio
  3. look better

I’m already starting to see the first two (2) goals happen so I’m ready to move into looking better (seeing the results). Losing weight is not my concern because if my clothes fit better and I’m feeling better I could care less how much weight that includes. Besides muscle weighs more than fat so I expected to gain weight.

Utah Business and Technology Expo

Posted on March 8th, 2006 in Misc. | No Comments »

I am blogging from the Big Business and Technology Expo here at The U.V.S.C. David O. Mckay Events Center in Orem, Utah. Wow. I’m impressed with over 150 booths, excellent catered food, and great business and technology contacts.

The two contacts I’m most excited about are:

1. Corporate Alliance: a group of business people who use their sphere of influence to help business partners within the group grow their businesses.

2. Blue Fin Design Group: the most extensive group of busines furniture for the home, corporate, and/or any office space. I’m excited about the new motorized adjustable table and the latest in chair design so I can better work in my office by alternating sitting and standing.
