Yuba Lake State Park - Utah

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Yuba Lake State Park was a complete blast. Several friends went camping Friday night and boating Saturday. We met them Saturday and brought the four-wheelers to ride. The downside was that the state closed all the trails except one. More on that in my next post.

My second time wakeboarding and I’m up.

American Fork Canyon

Posted on August 25th, 2006 in Utah ATV Trails | No Comments »

The idea here was to take the Cub Scouts up American Fork Canyon for a campfire dinner where the boys could earn a badge for cooking. Mother nature thought sending the thunderstorms right over us about 10 minutes into the cooking was a good idea.

Hopefully we’ll have better luck tomorrow at Yuba Lake. ;-)

Deer in August on My Flickr Page

I love being in Utah again. I really had forgotten all the good times to be had outside in Utah.

Here are some more photos of my recent ATV ride on the mountain above my home.

Thank you to Michael Moncur from Starling Travel for the ATV trails nod. ;-)

I hope to bring many more trails to my blog so others can finally have good information on ATV trails in Utah.

I’m preparing to ride at Yuba Lake this weekend with several friends with boats. I’ll be snapping photos on the trails and the lake.

More ATV Photos on Flickr

Posted on August 24th, 2006 in Utah ATV Trails | No Comments »

I’ve added a few ATV photos to my Flickr account and I’ll be adding a few more tomorrow. I’m almost done editing my new images from yesterday’s ride up the mountain during the thunderstorms.

The hard part about shooting photos is editing and posting them to my account. I can snap pictures all day long. Sometimes you capture a great shot, and other times an okay shot. But getting them ready to share and actually posting them, tagging them, and writing descriptions takes the most time.

I just had to post something other than politics.

Until tomorrow.

ATV Trailhead in Tucker, Utah in Sanpete County

Posted on August 22nd, 2006 in Utah ATV Trails | No Comments »

This atv trailhead is not easy to find, but it’s a great starting place to get up to Skyline Drive and Scofield Lake.

Where is it?

This trailhead is located up Spanish Fork Canyon about 20-30 mintues from the mouth of the canyon. It’s called Tucker, Utah, but it doesn’t exist on most maps because it’s a rest area (see pics below). You’ll first pass the HWY 89 turn off to Mt. Pleasant, Fairview, and Manti and then drive about 15 miles to the rest area.

There are 2 trailheads (North and South of the parking lot). We took the North entrance and followed it about 10-12 miles to the top on our atv. You can then continue on Skyline Drive or turn off to Scofield Lake State Park.

Difficulty rating:

This was an extremely easy atv ride and perfect for the kids. I was actually looking for a little challenge (any challenge), but my wife wasn’t interested with the kids. So don’t fear this ride if you’re new to riding atv’s.

At 15 miles past HWY 89 you should see a sign to slow for the turn

Then you’ll see a sign for Rest Area

Then you’ll see the Rest Area on your right (this is Tucker, UT)

As you approach the restrooms you’ll see a tribute to our Armed Forces

This stream is beautiful to watch before and after your atv ride. Just before the North trailhead starts.

The North trailhead from within the Rest Area

Going up the trail is easy. It is made for cars, campers, trucks, atv’s, bikes and any other kind of vehicle.

The atv ride is very rewarding if you like scenery

Beautiful views that never end

Five Mile Pass - Near Cedar Fort, UT

Posted on August 5th, 2006 in Utah ATV Trails | No Comments »

Today we went to Five Mile Pass (West of Eagle Mountain) to ride with Aimee and Noah.

It was a great place to ride with additional people because you can find a little place to let people share and do loops. There are hills, flats, bumps, jumps, mud holes (if rained recently), and rabbits running all over.

A lot of motorcycles so you have to watch for others, but we didn’t have any trouble today. Apparantly the Sherrif hangs out a lot, but he was just leaving when we arrived and returned as we left. If you’re legal there is nothing to worry about.

Tibble Fork - American Fork Canyon, Utah

Posted on August 4th, 2006 in Utah ATV Trails | 2 Comments »

This trail is one of the most popular trails because it’s easy to get to and very well known. However, because we live nearby, it was a great place to start.

To get there just enter the American Fork Canyon in Cedar Hills (get directions) and pass the Timponogos Cave National Monument by about 3-4 miles and look for the fork in the road. Turn left at the fork (a sign clearly marks the way to Tibble Fork). Then drive another 2-3 miles to the parking lot.

From this parking lot, next to the lake, you can find 2 trails that are easy for beginners to ride (a few rough spots, but my 8 year old/first time rider did fine). One trail goes East toward Heber and the other is at the end of the pavement (about 1/2 mile) and it leads you toward Silver Lake Flat. This is gorgeous and leads eventually to Alta Snowbird (directions here).
